William (Bill) Collier Stone

William Collier Stone (Bill) of Moultrie died January 5, 2026. He was 80 years old and had been a resident of Moultrie since 1982. 

Family members held a private memorial service.

Mr. Stone was born March 5, 1945 in Freeport, Texas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Wilburn Wren and Theresa Luke Stone, and one sister, Catherine Wetherell. He was a graduate of Freeport High School and South Georgia Technical College. He retired from the Colquitt County Board of Education in 2002, after working in Colquitt County schools for 20 years. Mr. Stone served in the US Navy during the Vietnam era and later served in the Georgia National Guard. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing, and scuba diving in particular. He served as a volunteer soccer coach at the YMCA from the inception of the program when his children were young, and for many more years. He was also a Boy Scout Leader at both the First Presbyterian Church and the First Methodist Church. Additionally, he was a self-proclaimed Trekkie and spent many years building his collection of Star Trek memorabilia. He valued the courageous spirit of Spock and Captain Kirk.

Survivors include his wife of 56 years, Mary Ann Campbell Stone, two sons, William Stone, Jr. and wife Laura Stone of Norman Park, Thomas W. Stone of N. Augusta, SC, and one daughter, Theresa Stone and husband Rusty Sutton of Candler, NC. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Brianna Stone of Atlanta, Kylie Stone of Hawkinsville, Tyler Stone of Norman Park, and Archer Sutton of Candler, NC, one brother, Robert O. Stone and wife Cindy of Germantown, MD and several nieces and nephews.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
