Wilburn Payne

Wilburn “J.R.” Edward Payne, Jr., 84, of Moultrie, died on Wednesday, January 13, 2021 at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, January 16, 2021in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Rev. John Eubanks officiating. Interment will follow Cobb/Suncrest Memorial Gardens. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Born on April 20, 1936 in Ashburn, Georgia, he was the son of the late Wilburn “Bud” Edward Payne, Sr. and Thelma Bailey Payne. He was the former owner of Payne’s Auto Mart and was of the Baptist faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Gregory Payne; and brothers, Wandell Payne and Buddy Payne.

Mr. Payne is survived by his son, Mike Payne and wife Teri of Moultrie; daughters, Dawn Payne Patnaude and husband Keith, Michelle Payne Newsome and husband Lee, all of Moultrie; grandchildren, Payne Newsome of Moultrie, Gracie Corson and husband Gaston of Bainbridge, Ashley Walden and husband Johnathan of Moultrie, Allyssa Stephens of Ashburn and Katelyn Gibson and husband Daniel of Tifton; great granddaughter, Faithlyn Walden; brothers, Wayne Payne and wife Dolly of Norman Park and Stephen Payne and wife Suzanne of Moultrie; and one sister, Jeanette Tucker of Tampa; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will be gathering at 5088 Tallokas Rd. Moultrie Georgia
