Terry Wayne Baker, 79, of Norman Park, passed away on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, at his residence, surrounded by his family.
The family will receive friends Thursday, October 15, 2026, from 5:00-7:00 pm at Baker Funeral Home. At his request, the family will have a private service with the Reverend Jim Horne officiating.
Born on October 12, 1947, in Norman Park, Georgia, to the late Homer and Thelma Thompson Baker. Terry was the former owner of Baker Farms and Baker Funeral Home, dedicating many years of his life to his work and the families he served. After retirement, he enjoyed spending his time doing what he loved most—fishing. He could often be found at the Warrior Creek fishing for bream or at one of his ponds trying to hook a speckled perch. However, one of his favorite pastimes was heading to the coast to net mullet. After a good day fishing, he loved nothing more than a good fish fry with family and friends. These moments outdoors brought him great joy and created many special memories. Above all, Terry cherished his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who held a special place in his heart. His love for them was immeasurable, and the memories they shared will forever be treasured.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother-in-law, Terrell Weeks.
Survivors include his wife, Dale Weeks Baker; sons, Joe Baker and wife, Lia, Richard Baker and wife, Kim; daughter, Jennifer Wetherington and husband, Heath; grandchildren, John Baker and wife, Libby, Parker Baker Bullard and husband, Bryce, Jay Baker, Abby Baker, Andy Baker, Alex Baker, Jacey Wetherington, Libby Wetherington, Sadie Wetherington, Aubrey Wetherington, and Katie Wetherington; great-grandchildren, John Thomas Baker and Carter Bullard; sisters, Donna Kay Weeks and Teresa Willis and husband, Lindsey; numerous nieces and nephews.
We would like to extend a special thank-you to Colquitt Regional Hospice, Colquitt Regional Medical Center, Edwards Cancer Center, Mrs. Betty Thornton, LaShonda Dawkins, and family and friends for all the love and care during this difficult time.
