Sophronia Thelma Thompson Baker

Sophronia Thelma Thompson Baker, 100, of Norman Park, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at her residence.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 5, 2026, at 11:00 am in the chapel at Baker Funeral Home with Reverend Julian Griner officiating. Interment will follow at Baker Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, October 4, 2026, from 2:00 – 4:00 pm at Baker Funeral Home.

Born October 19,1925, in Heard County, Georgia to the late Grover Cleveland Thompson and Eva Lois Shiflett. Mrs. Baker was a homemaker who found great joy in caring for her family and creating a warm, welcoming home. Her family will forever cherish the many meals shared around her table. She was known as a wonderful cook and enjoyed nothing more than having a table full of family and friends for lunch, often welcoming loved ones into her home throughout the week. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren have fond memories of spending time at Grandma’s house after school, where they always felt loved and cared for. Her home was a place where memories were made, stories were shared, and family was always welcome. Mrs. Baker also valued her faith and was a member of Weeks Chapel Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, H. A. Baker; son-in-law, Terrell Weeks; brothers, Bobby Thompson and wife, Hazel Thompson Sapp, Jack Thompson, Huel Thompson and wife, Arlene, and Louie Thompson and wife, Joan; sisters, Clarice Delaney and husband, Jack, Helen Cason and husband, R.A. Cason, Ina Collins and husband Frank, Faye Sanders and husband, Ronald; sister-in-law, Joy Ann Thompson; brother-in-law, Taylor McDaniel.

Mrs. Baker is survived by her son, Terry Baker and wife, Dale; daughters, Donna Kay Weeks, and Teresa Willis and husband, Lindsey; grandchildren, Joe Baker and wife, Lia, Richard Baker and wife, Kim, Jennifer Wetherington and husband, Heath, Anna Sumner and husband, J.J., Autumn Dickens and husband, Jeremy, Amber Schwalls, Miranda Cox and husband, Todd, and Tera Willis and Rebecca King; great-grandchildren, John Baker and wife, Libby, Parker Bullard and husband, Bryce, Jay Baker, Abby Baker, Andy Baker, Alex Baker, Jacey Wetherington, Libby Wetherington, Sadie Wetherington, Aubrey Wetherington, Katie Wetherington, Cheyene Nichols and husband, Nick, Paris Lawson and husband, Jacob, Chloe Corley and husband, Nathan, Ava Dickens, Alivia Dickens, Ellie Schwalls, Sylvie Schwalls, Sophie James Schwalls, Asher Cox, Cadence Cox, and Imogene Willis; great-greatgrandchildren; John Thomas Baker and Carter Bullard; brother, Billy Thompson; sister, Margret McDaniel of Adel; sister-in-law, Sandra Lightfoot; numerous nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to Colquitt Regional Hospice, Betty Thornton, Louise Hunt, and Andrea Baker, for the loving care, compassion, and support they provided to Mama and her family during her final days. Their kindness and dedication will always be remembered and deeply appreciated.
