Born in Valdosta but spent most of her life in Moultrie, where she met her beloved husband, Gregg, who she affectionately called “Poppity-bop.” She was a devoted wife who would have celebrated her 47th wedding anniversary on October 30th,2023. She was the true definition of the Proverbs 31 woman: “She brings her husband good, not harm, all the days of her life. She is clothed with strength and dignity. She speaks with wisdom and faithful instruction. Her children arise and call her blessed, her husband also. A woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.”
She comically called herself a domestic engineer as she poured everything she had into raising her three sons and practically rearing her grandkids, as well, since she was always present in their lives. She spoiled her babies with countless trips to the Hope House, Walmart, kids’ nights at Chick-fil-a, outings to Wild Adventures, and other fun places. She enjoyed cooking and serving food to all that entered her home. She loved flowers, nature, sunrises, sunsets, and lighthouses. Above all, she loved her Jesus, which was evident to everyone she met.
The most exciting time of the year was the annual Phelps family beach trip. This was a tradition that she started ten years ago. All she needed was for her toes to be in the sand surrounded by the ones she loved. She is now enjoying her heavenly beach house that Jesus had prepared for her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandbaby, Able Phelps.
She is survived by her loving husband, Gregory Byron Phelps, Sr. of Moultrie; sons, Gregg Phelps, Jr. and wife Sarah of Deatsville, AL, Jamie Phelps and wife Sarah of Valdosta, and Timmy Phelps of Moultrie; grandchildren, Timmy “Little T” Phelps, Jr., Nathan Phelps, Hailey Phelps, Jacob Phelps, Noah Phelps, Hannah Phelps, and Samuel Phelps; sisters, Clarisa and Daryl Jones and Sheila and Daryl Monk, all of Dothan; and several nieces and nephews.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
