Ronald Lywood Carruthers, 78, of Moultrie, passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday, November 3, 2026, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home, with Reverend Stanley Norman officiating. Interment with military honors will follow at Cobb Suncrest Memorial Gardens. Kip Carruthers, Blake Carruthers, Cleveland Payne, Ryan Harris, Craig Carruthers, and Jeff Bell will all serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service starting at 10:00 a.m. in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home.
Born on November 14, 1947, in Moultrie, Georgia, Ronald was the son of the late George Lyman Carruthers, Sr. and Josephine Eddings Carruthers.
Before retiring, Ronald worked as the production manager at Universal Forest Products for more than twenty years. He was a proud Army veteran who served during the Vietnam War and earned two Bronze Stars. Ronald loved fishing and was considered a master fisherman by those who knew him. He was also a great storyteller, and some will remember him as quite the horse salesman. He knew no strangers, only friends he hadn’t met yet. Above all, Ronald loved his family dearly and treasured the time he spent with them.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his brother, George Lyman Carruthers, Jr.
Ronald is survived by his wife, Bonnie Rowe Carruthers of Moultrie; sons, Kip Carruthers and wife Tina, Blake Carruthers and wife Kim, Jeffrey Rutter and wife Joan, and Ryan Harris and wife Christie; grandchildren, Tiffany Payne and husband Cleveland, Kinsey Carruthers, Taylor Triplett, Alexis Rutter, Lucas Rutter, Lily Rutter, Maddie Harris, and Charlie Harris; and great-grandchildren, Mason Payne and Melanie Payne.
Arrangements entrusted to Baker Funeral Home and Crematory.
