Rhonda Mercer Merritt

Rhonda Mercer Merritt, 61, of Moultrie, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, October 12, 2023, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Rev. Steve Scarrow officiating. Blake Williams, Austin Mercer, Bo Williams, James Mercer, Lark Mercer, and Jacob Tompkins will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Baker/Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Born on December 19, 1961, in Knoxville, Tennessee, she was the daughter of Willie Durrell Mercer and Marilyn Joyce Davidson Mercer. Rhonda graduated from Moultrie High School in 1979. She continued her education and received a degree in office management with accounting. Afterward, she worked as the office manager of her family’s business, Mercer Motors. Her hobbies in previous years included competing in clogging competitions as well as instructing aerobics. She was a member of and baptized at Friendship Alliance Church, where she served in the children’s ministry for many years. In recent years, her love for the Lord grew with an overwhelming desire to share her testimony and love for her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Christopher Jackson Merritt, and her beloved dog, Jax.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her family that she loved dearly: her son, Andrew William Parker and wife Xu Li of Atlanta; siblings, Tami Love and husband Winsel of Valdosta, Donald Mercer and Stephanie Sellers of Moultrie, Michael Mercer and wife Lynn of Moultrie, Victor Mercer and wife Gina of Moultrie, Regina Mercer Ward of Moultrie, and Saundra Whidby and husband Scott of Moultrie; grandson, Jonah William Parker; father to her son, Jimmy Parker of Moultrie; mother-in-law, Ruby Merritt; many nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Arrangements entrusted to Baker Funeral Home.
