Patricia Ann McGee Bishop

Patricia Ann McGee-Bishop died peacefully on April 28, 2026, at the age of 91. Patricia was born on May 25, 1934, in Moultrie, Georgia, to the late Thomas W. McGee and Edna Claire Truett McGee. She attended the University of Georgia, where she met her husband, Richard Francis Bishop. Patricia graduated in 1954 with a degree in English and began her career teaching fifth grade.

Richard and Patricia were married on August 19, 1956, and shared 61 years of marriage while raising six children, all of whom survived their parents: Laurel Ann Greendyk (Nick), Barbara Ellen Sorensen (Tony), Richard Francis Bishop Jr., George Thomas Bishop (Sonja), Patricia Claire Soo-Hoo (Andy), and Jonathan William Bishop (Nicole). Patricia is also survived by seven grandchildren and two great-granddaughters. She was preceded in death by her husband, two brothers, her sister, and her beloved grandson, Bryon Sorensen.

Patricia relocated frequently while raising her children, moving to various regions across the United States in support of her husband’s career. With each transition, she adapted quickly and worked to ensure her children felt secure and at home in their new environments. She was deeply engaged in her communities, serving as a homeroom mom, Scout leader, Sunday school teacher, and active participant in church activities, book clubs, and Bible study groups. An avid reader, she fostered a lifelong love of books in her children. In later years, Patricia and her husband traveled extensively, visiting countries such as France, England, and Spain. Among her most cherished experiences was an Alaskan cruise.

A celebration of life will be held at 2:00 pm, Sunday, May 3, 2026, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Reedy Creek Community Cemetery.

Alternatively, Patricia was an ardent fan of the Catholic television service and watched the Mass most every evening.
