Norman Durene Howell

Norman Durene Howell, 70, of Norman Park, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 25, 2024, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center. 

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Reverend Ricky Mclaughlin officiating. Michael Dickens, Elvis Strickland, Sr., Rex Lamb, Lynn Brown, Jay Brown, Vernon Broome, and Bryan Broome will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Zion Grove Cemetery. 

The family will receive friends one hour before the service. 

Born July 15, 1954, in Camilla, Georgia, he was the son of the late Clifton Odeal Howell and Lavesta Barron Howell. Mr. Howell was a truck driver who always looked forward to being on the road. After retiring he lived in Norman Park where he enjoyed watching the big trucks and traffic pass by. He would often talk about the memories from his road trips as if he were on the road again. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Lanelle Eddings Howell; brother, Eric Howell; and sisters, Kathleen Howell Brown and Ilona Howell Parsons. 

Mr. Howell is survived by his, long-time friend, Buddy Strickland of Norman Park; stepchildren, Tammie Strickland Dickens and husband Joe of Norman Park, Elvis Wondell Strickland, Sr., of Douglas, Regina Strickland West and husband Jimmy of Norman Park; brother, Royal Howell and wife Martha of Douglas; sister, Virginia Howell Bryant of Hartsfield; special grandSON who he helped raise, (E.J.) Elvis Wondell Strickland, Jr. and wife Monica of Tempe, Arizona; 8 step-grandchildren; 13 step great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
