Mason Scott Bennett

Mason Scott Bennett, 22, from Walstonburg, North Carolina, passed away suddenly on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, in Wilson, North Carolina. Mason graduated from Wilson Early College Academy, Wilson Community College, and was attending Wake Tech in Raleigh, NC. He was employed as a barista at Starbucks.
Memorial service will be held at 6:00 PM on Thursday, March 2, 2023, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Rev. Robert McCoy officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00-6:00 PM and the family will receive friends immediately following the service.
Mason loved to read, bike, and listen to music of all types. He was a devoted son and big brother as well as a loyal friend. He was a champion for the underdog and the misunderstood.
Mason was born in Moultrie, Georgia, on June 14, 2000. He is survived by his father and mother, Barry and Lisa Bennett, and his younger brother, Lane, all of Walstonburg, North Carolina. He is also survived by grandparents, Greg and Ann Waites of Norman Park, Georgia, Debbie Waites of Adel, Georgia, and Roy and Dawn Bennett of Meigs, Georgia. His surviving great-grandparents are E.L. “Mann” Waites and Carolyn Waites, both of Norman Park, Georgia.
Mason also leaves behind uncles Blake Bennett (wife Stephanie) of Americus, Georgia, and Brandon Bennett (wife Paige) of Ashburn, Georgia. His aunts are Shelby Johnson (husband Eric) of Odessa, TX, and Jeanie Salter (husband Ray) of Sumner, Georgia.
He leaves behind cousins Zoe Dickson, Perry Bennett, Brayden Bock, Addison Bennett, and Riley Bennett. He was preceded in death by his cousin Niles Gengenbach.
Memorial donations in lieu of flowers can be made in his honor to Wilson County Substance Prevention Coalition in Wilson County, NC, or to the Greene County Animal Shelter in Snow Hill, NC.
