Mary Martin Willis

Mary Martin Willis, 95, of Omega, passed away Friday, August 11, 2023, at her residence.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 PM on Sunday, August 13, 2023, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Jimmy Voyles and Rev. Danny Smith officiating. The grandsons will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Leila Church Cemetery.
Born on November 15, 1927, in Colquitt County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late John Martin and Myra Marchant Martin. She was an active member of Antioch Baptist Church until her health kept her home. She was a loving and devoted farmer's wife and a cherished mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. She will be remembered for her pound cakes and fried apple tarts which she graciously shared with family and friends. For about 30 years she was an artist who painted many beautiful pictures and sold them at arts and crafts shows all over South Georgia.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, “AJ” Willis; brothers, and sisters, Horace Martin, Roy Martin, Pauline Vandiver, and Evelyn Turner; and son-in-law, Donnie Roberts.
Mrs. Willis is survived by her son, James Willis and wife Pam of Watkinsville, Georgia; daughters, Ann Roberts of Norman Park, and Paula Edwards of Tifton; brother, Ray Martin; grandchildren, Lynn Ring of Watkinsville, Jamie Willis and wife Stacy Watkinsville; Stuart Willis and wife Tammy of Canton, Jonathan Willis and wife Kazuyo Shimizu of Watkinsville, Shelley Roberts and Kristi Roberts of Norman Park, Danielle Beranek and husband David of Canton, and Tyler Edwards and wife Amber of Omega; great-grandchildren, Jeremy Ring and wife Claire of Peachtree Corners, Justin Ring of Watkinsville, Ashleigh Willis of Augusta, A.J. Willis of Watkinsville, Braxton Willis of Lagrange, Brice Willis of Statesboro; Mason and Baylee Beranek of Canton, and Cam and Rylee Edwards of Omega; great-great grandson, Archer Ring; and special caregivers, Felicia Thomas, Tiffany, Katie, and all the other “Christy’s” who were part of our caregiver family.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service on Sunday, August 13, 2023, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home.
