Lessie Byrd

Lessie Cooley Byrd, 86, of Moultrie, died Thursday, December 3, 2020 at Agape/Cobblestone Health and Rehab.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Sunday, December 6, 2020 in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Dee officiating. Interment will follow at Irwinville Cemetery in Irwinville, Georgia. The grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Born on August 9, 1934 in Rebecca, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Lonnie Columbus Cooley and Mary Anna Gilleon Cooley. She retired from Riverside Manufacturing and was a member of The Christian Crusade Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Eston Ashley Rowell and Edgar Jamieson Byrd; son, Michael Lamar Rowell; brothers, Albert Cooley, D.J. Cooley, and Buddy Cooley; and sister, Faustine Evers.
Mrs. Byrd is survived by her sons, Joseph Thomas Rowell and wife Charlotte of Louisiana, MO and Norman Ashley Rowell and wife Cathy of Norman Park; daughters, Catherine Elrod Sutton and husband Sanford, Jr. of Moultrie, Susan Rowell McCard and husband Bob of Gordy, and Anna Jeannette Tillman and husband Robert of Norman Park; sisters, Bessie Mae Young and Tessie Wright, both of Fitzgerald; and several grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service at Baker Funeral Home from 1:00pm until the time of service.
