Born on December 5, 1958, in New Orleans, Louisiana, he was the son of the late Sylvia Joan Henry. He was a certified, self-employed mechanic whose knowledge, dedication, and strong work ethic were widely respected. Outside of his work, Kevin found great joy in woodworking and was known for his ability to create and build with precision and creativity. He also had a deep love for cooking and was especially known for preparing delicious Cajun meals that brought family and friends together. An avid outdoorsman, Kevin loved all aspects of hunting and cherished the time he spent in the outdoors.

Above all else, Kevin’s greatest pride and calling was his faith. He was a devoted member of Lifespring Community Church and faithfully served as the leader of Overcomer Ministries. Through this ministry, Kevin encouraged, guided, and inspired others, living out his faith with humility, compassion, and dedication.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Kerry Nelson, Kendal Nelson and Kris Nelson.

Mr. Nelson is survived by his wife, Kathy Perryman Nelson of Hartsfield; son, Jerry Nelson and wife Christy of Vestavia, Alabama; daughters, Courtnee Cochran and husband Chad of Atlanta, Georgia, Ashlee Smith and husband Kevin of Braselton, Georgia Britnee Irwin and husband Bryan of Monticello, Georgia, and Lennie Flowers of Huntsville, Alabama; grandchildren, Sophia Nelson, Margaret Nelson, Chadwick Cochran, Kathrine Cochran, Ansley Cochran, Alora Smith, Kaden Smith, Loralye Irwin, Levi Irwin, and Landin Irwin; and several friends, and extended family members.
