Kenneth Robert Weaver

Kenneth Robert Weaver, 74, of Norman Park, died on Sunday, August 23, 2026, at his home, surrounded by his family.

Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, August 27, 2026, at Mount Olive Baptist Church with Reverend Andy Cashwell and Reverend Wayne Woods, and Reverend Brian Blackburn officiating. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Baker/Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with John Weaver, Danny Carter, Eddie Soto, Scott Murphy, Jason Weaver, Parker Weaver, Brady Weaver, and Wyatt Thompson, serving as pallbearers. Honorary Pallbearers will be Wesley Key, Orik Daniels, Joey Salter, and the Deacons of Mount Olive Baptist Church.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2026, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home from 6:00 p.m.- 8:00 p.m.

Born on March 20, 1952, in Moultrie, Mr. Ken, as he was affectionately known by many, was the son of the late James Robert Weaver and Dorothy Quarles Weaver. A 1970 graduate of Norman Park High School, Mr. Ken felt the call to service and enlisted in the United States Navy. His eleven year career as a jet aircraft engine technician took him to many parts of the country and the world, including Australia, The Philippines, and Japan. He was a proud former crew member of the aircraft carrier USS Midway (CV-41), serving on her during the end of the Vietnam War and across many tours of the Western Pacific and Indian Oceans. It was through his travels in the Navy that he met his future bride of 49 years, Kalea, herself the daughter of a well-traveled Navy family. Mr. Ken loved serving his country and was never shy about his patriotism.

Upon conclusion of his Navy service, Mr. Ken returned to Norman Park where he worked on the family dairy farm with his father and brother. He spent many years driving a petroleum transport for Associated Petroleum Carriers (APC) and later Florida Rock and Tank Lines. A 31-year member, and one time chief of the Norman Park Volunteer Fire Department and certified First Responder, Mr. Ken’s desire to serve his community continued long after his Navy service. Later in life, he could be found installing propane and natural gas appliances or selling fuel and making hydraulic hoses at Farmers Fuel, for local farmers and businesses. Mr. Ken loved helping people and was never shy about striking up a conversation and finding out just how far down the line they were related. He could be found cruising the local roads on his motorcycle, always eager to stop and say hello to his friends and family. He loved all things cars and aircraft; he could tell you the engine displacement of any car of the 1970s or identify a barely visible military aircraft by the sound of its engine.

Mr. Ken’s servant heart continued to show with a lifetime of service to his church. He was ordained a Deacon at Southside Baptist Church in 1982 and continued serving as a Deacon at First Baptist Church Norman Park and Mount Olive Baptist Church, where he was a member at his passing. Mr. Ken loved his family; he was lovingly known as “Pop” or “Pop Ken” to his three grandsons and four granddaughters. He loved traveling to see them in all of their many activities, especially Worth Country Rams baseball and football games.

He is survived by his wife, Kalea Weaver of Norman Park; sons, Master Gunnery Sergeant Michael Weaver of New Orleans, LA, and Tom Weaver and wife Kayla of Anderson City; daughters, Mary Sue Thompson and husband Justin, and Melissa Joy and husband Brandon, all of Moultrie; grandchildren, Parker Weaver, Claire Slocumb, Brady Weaver, Wyatt Thompson, Caroline Joy, Taylor Mae Thompson, and Chandler Joy; brother, Ben Weaver and wife Sandra of Norman Park, and sister, Jo Beth Weaver and wife Dottie Saye of Marietta.

In lieu of flowers, the family ask that donations be made to Colquitt Regional Hospice 415 Rowland Drive, Moultrie, Georgia 31768.

The family would also like to extend a special and heartfelt thank you to the staff of Colquitt Regional Hospice for the exceptional care, compassion, and kindness shown to Mr. Ken and his family during his final days. Their loving support and dedication will always be deeply appreciated and remembered.

The family will be gathering at the home of Justin and Mary Sue Thompson.
