Julia Mayne McLaughlin passed away peacefully on the morning of Monday, October 27, 2025, at the age of 88.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, October 30, 2025, from 6:00 pm – 7:00 pm at Baker Funeral Home.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date in Fernandina Beach, Florida.
Born July 2, 1937, in Anniston, Alabama, Julia was the daughter of Ella Ruth and Frank Mayne. In 1969, she made her home in Moultrie, Georgia, where she lived a life marked by faith, love, and generosity. Julia was a woman of deep and abiding faith and a devoted member of Trinity Baptist Church. In her professional life, Julia served as Executive Director of the United Way of Colquitt County for eleven years, where she worked tirelessly to strengthen her community. Julia will be remembered for her sharp wit, kind heart, quick humor, and generous spirit. She was beautiful, intelligent, and thoughtful, and her love for her family was unwavering.
Julia was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Elwood “Mac” McLaughlin; her parents, Ella Ruth and Frank Mayne; and her granddaughter, Mary Holt Statom. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Edward and Sandra Statom; her granddaughter and her husband, Catie and Devin Smith, along with their son, Franklin Smith; her grandsons, Michael and Lawton (Dock) Webb; her daughter and son-in-law, Lee and Louis Grande; and her grandchildren, Louis Thomas Grande and Laura Ruth Grande.
