Born on November 4, 1939, in Turner Co., Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Ira Treadwell and Lillian Passmore Treadwell. She was a dedicated homemaker and was of the Baptist faith. My Momma was one of the sweetest people that has ever graced this earth. Of all the wonderful characteristics I could name, the greatest was her love for God. She not only loved Christ, but she practiced her faith to the fullest. She had so many verses memorized that we could not possible count them all. She always had the best things to say about others and never liked to hear gossip or negative talk about people. She pointed out the good in others and had a prayer warrior spirit. Momma would pray me to sleep many nights and always called out her loved ones that needed prayer. She was saved at the young age of 15 at East Side Baptist Church in Moultrie. Once she accepted Christ as her own, she lived it first hand. The greatest adventure of her life was adopting me, choosing to be my Momma!! There was no doubt ever that she loved me and her family with unconditional grace, mercy, and love, just as Christ gives us each and every day. She also loved her fur babies and spoiled them even to the point of cooking for them if they needed special food. She was one of a kind and we don’t know how we will live without her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years Rev. Roy Lee Hicks.
Mrs. Hicks is survived by her daughter, Tammy Hicks Wilson and husband Frankie of Moultrie; grandchildren, Steven Wilson and wife Mackenzie and Morgan Wilson, all of Moultrie; sister-in-law, Carol Brooks of Lakeland and special friends, Tammy Hester Croy, Clayton Murphy, Faye Plymel, Sandra Brock, and many other special friends.
