Joshua Lewis Edney, 38, of Tifton, died at his home on Monday, May 12, 2025.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
Born on December 13, 1986, in Homestead, Florida, he was the son of Lewis Peace Edney and the late Barbara Garland Edney. Joshua spent his life doing what he loved most—being outdoors. Whether he was casting a line into a quiet lake at sunrise, tracking deer through the woods, or simply sitting by a campfire under the stars, Joshua felt most at home in nature. His passion for fishing and hunting wasn’t just a pastime; it was a way of life that he shared freely and joyfully with others.
Joshua had a generous heart and a quiet strength. He was the kind of person who would give you the shirt off his back, offer a listening ear without judgment, and show up when it mattered most. He found peace in the solitude of the wild and joy in the company of friends and family around a fire or in a boat on a lazy afternoon.
He also turned his love of the wilderness into a career, working as a skilled tree stand builder for Southern Outdoors. His craftsmanship helped countless others experience the outdoors the way he did—up close and with deep respect. He was of the Baptist faith.
He is survived by his father and stepmother, Lewis and Jane Edney and of Norman Park; daughter, Alanna Nichole Edney of Perry, Florida; and sister, Tara Lauren Edney of High Springs, Florida.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home & Crematory.
