Joseph “Joey” Cleveland Pope, Jr., 65, of Norman Park, passed away on Sunday, September 13, 2026, at his residence.
A memorial service will be held at 5:00 PM on Thursday, September 17, 2026, at Lifespring Community Church with Reverend Julian Griner officiating.
Born on July 27, 1961, in Moultrie, Georgia to the late J. C. Pope, Sr. and Nell Fender Pope. Mr. Pope worked in construction as a contractor for King’s Tile and Stone, taking great pride in his work and craftsmanship. He had a true love for woodworking and enjoyed spending time outdoors. An avid fisherman, he cherished the peace and enjoyment that came with being on the water. Above all, Mr. Pope was a devoted family man who loved his family dearly, especially his grandchildren, who held a very special place in his heart. His love, hard work, and the memories he created with those he loved will be treasured for years to come.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Eugene Fender; sisters, Diane Cooper, and Rolanda Pope.
Survivors include his wife, Kathy Hackworth Pope; daughter, Jennifer McMurphy and husband, Joshua; brother, Jerome Pope; sisters, Sissy Johnson and husband, Tom, and Charlotte Sizemore; grandchildren, Mackenzie Attebury and husband, Colby, Emily Law and husband, Logan, Lance Simmons and wife, Kayla, and Sunny Simmons; 9 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews along with great nieces and nephews.
We would like to extend a special thank-you to Colquitt Regional Hospice, Colquitt Regional Medical Center, Edwards Cancer Center, Dr. Michael Brown, and family and friends for all the love and care during this difficult time.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Colquitt Regional Hospice.
