John Patrick Rentz, 88, of Lake Park, formerly of Norman Park, died Saturday, May 17, 2025, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Deep Bottom Cemetery in Norman Park. Keith Rentz, Hunter Rentz, Ben McGuire, Brayden McGuire, Greg Harrell, and John Prairie, will all serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service in the chapel.
Born on September 4, 1936, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of the late Joe Rentz and Winnie Lucille Davis Rentz. Mr. Rentz was the proud owner and operator of RCE of Valdosta, a trusted radio telecommunications store that served the local community for many years. His passion for technology and communication was evident in every aspect of his business.
Beyond his professional life, Mr. Rentz was an avid outdoorsman who found great joy in hunting and fishing. Whether casting a line or tracking game, he cherished the peace and beauty of nature.
Above all, John adored his beloved wife, the late Betty Dean Taylor Rentz. Their bond was one of deep affection and unwavering devotion. Her passing left a void in his heart that never truly healed. Mr. Rentz will be remembered for his quiet strength, his love of the outdoors, and his dedication to his family and community. He was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Dean Taylor Rentz; and sister, Betty Jo Rentz Davis.
He is survived by cherished son, Keith Rentz of Quitman; grandchildren, Lauren Rentz, Morgan McGuire and husband Ben, and Hunter Rentz; great-grandchildren, Leighton Lane, Brayden McGuire and Bennett McGuire; sister, Karen Norton and husband Bruce of Norman Park; and extended family and friends.
Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home & Crematory.
