Joe Wendell Roberts, 85, of Norman Park, Georgia, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at his home, surrounded by family.
Funeral services will be held at 11 AM on Friday, August 4, 2023, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Rev. Marlon Daniels and Rev. Julian Griner officiating. Jon Schwalls, Dug Schwalls, Del Schwalls, Kent Hamilton, Arlyn Roberts, Austin Hamilton, Presley Hamilton, and Justin Searcy will serve as pallbearers. Kristie Childress, Karen Conger, Rutt Conger, and Lizzie Woodard will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow at Cool Springs Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery in Norman Park.
Visitation will be held one hour before the service.
Born on January 2, 1938, in Colquitt County., Georgia, he was the son of the late Oran Lemuel Roberts and Marie Baker Roberts. He was a farmer and a member of Cool Springs Freewill Baptist Church in Norman Park.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Jane Weeks; and brother, Kenny Roberts.
Mr. Roberts is survived by his wife, Carolyn Passmore Roberts of Norman Park; daughter, Shana Leigh Howell and husband Shan of Adel; stepdaughters, Leisa Stone and husband Alan of Norman Park, and Amy Cox and husband Joey of Gainesville; sisters, Wanda Hamilton-Tyler and husband Ed of Norman Park, and Valda Mathis and husband Steve of Norman Park; brother, Byron Roberts and wife Priscilla of Statesboro; sister-in-law, Pat Roberts of Norman Park; grandchildren, Zac Goodno and wife Naomi of Moultrie, Hannah Goodno of Moultrie; Emily Luna and husband Jesus of Gainesville, and Elizabeth Cox of Gainesville; and great-grandchildren, Leif Ledferd, Joseph “Dak” Goodno, Emma Grace Leon, and Maverick Leon.
