Jo Ann G. Elrod, 85, of Norman Park, passed on to eternity on Wednesday, March 24, 2021 at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, March 27, 2021 at 11 am in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Rev. John Eubanks officiating. Pallbearers will be her grandsons, Adam Taylor, Zach Taylor, Nolan Riley, Peter Coffey, Lanier Beason, and Mike Wayne Beason. Misty Coffey, Christi Riley, Amy Taylor, Laura Tillman, Kaitlin Turner, and Taylor Taylor, Mrs. Elrod's granddaughters, will all serve as honorary pallbearers.
Born on August 23, 1935 in Hartsfield, Georgia, she was the daughter of S.W.J. Griffin and Minnie Ruth Taylor Griffin. Jo Ann was a godly woman who loved her family and friends. She could not stand to be idle and was always cooking, sewing, or crocheting. She retired from Turner's Dress Shop in 2007 and enjoyed spending her retirement with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was of the Baptist faith.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husbands, Horace Lanier Taylor, Sr., John David Miller, and Odis Elrod; son, John Alvin Miller; and sister, Shirley Radford.
She is survived by her sons, Horace Lanier Taylor, Jr. and wife Theresa, David Samuel Taylor, and Joseph Thurston Taylor and wife Dee; daughter Lori Miller Turner; grandchildren, Laura and Kai Tillman, Misty and Peter Coffey, Christi and Nolan Riley, Amy Taylor, Adam and Amanda Taylor, Kaitlin Turner, and Zachary and Taylor Taylor; 6 great grandchildren; and sisters, Eloise O'Neal, Louise Naquin, Frankie Dell, and Carolyn Clements; and her brother, Johnny and Brenda Griffin.
Visitation will be held on Friday, March 26, 2021 from 5:00pm until 8:00pm in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home.
