Jimmy Burgess, 79, died Tuesday, July 7, 2026, at his home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Monday, July 13, 2026, at Zion Grove Assembly of God Church with Reverend Ken Burgess officiating. Cole Fallin, Chris Booth, Cody Roberts, Jake Peach, Brandon Peach, Fallin Key will serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be one hour prior to the service.
Born August 4, 1946, in Colquitt County, he was the son of the late Cleatis Taylor Burgess and Edna Elizabeth Vinson Burgess. Mr. Burgess served in the United States Navy. He also retired from Southwestern State Hospital.
Mr. Burgess found happiness in reading, always enjoying the opportunity to learn and reflect through a good book. He took great pride in caring for his land, spending countless hours tending to it with dedication and love. Whether he was casting a fishing line into the water or riding his Gator through the woods, he found peace in nature and cherished the beauty of the outdoors.
Above all, Mr. Burgess treasured time with his family. Family gatherings brought him great joy, and he loved creating memories surrounded by those he loved most. His kind spirit, gentle presence, and unwavering love for his family will be remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
Mr. Burgess leaves behind a legacy of love, hard work, and appreciation for life's simple blessings. Though he will be deeply missed, his memory will live on in the hearts of his family and friends, and in the land and woods he so dearly loved.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Cleatis Lynn Burgess; sister, Jerry Etteenn Burgess Anderson; and brother-in-law, Malcolm vonKrogh Anderson III.
Mr. Burgess is survived by his nieces and nephews, Tami Anderson Mirabzadeh and husband Christopher, Malcolm vonKrogh Anderson III and wife Mae, and Alex Burgess Anderson; and great nieces and nephews, Abraham Jeremiah Mirabzadeh and Isabella Giai Mirabzadeh.
Arrangements entrusted to Baker Funeral Home and Crematory.
