Jerry T. Veal

Jerry T. Veal, 78, of Norman Park, passed away on Sunday, October 8, 2023, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Wednesday, October 11, 2023, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Rev. Jody Jordan officiating and assisted by Rev. Dr. Jimmy Voyles. Justin Schmandt, Austin Veal, Aric Veal, Jay Gray, Kyle Bridges, Justin Bentley, and Thomas Spurlin will serve as pallbearers. Roger Tillman and Donald McMillan will serve as honorary pallbearers.
Born on December 2, 1944, in Tifton, Georgia, he was the son of the late Chesley Davis Veal and Rusia Louvenia Childs Veal. He served in the National Guard and was a member of First Baptist Church Norman Park. Mr. Veal worked in construction for over 40 years and built golf courses. He loved the Lord, his family and friends, and his canine baby Prissy. He had a special bond with the children at church and enjoyed giving them candy and quarters to purchase from the gumball machine.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by siblings, CD Veal, Edwin Veal, Doris King, and Sarah Ann Holman; and his stepson, Mike Gray.
Mr. Veal is survived by his wife of 38 years, Helen Dorsey Veal of Norman Park; children, Christopher Veal (Tracy) of Texas, and Jerri Lynn Cooper (Randy) of Tifton; step-children, Debbie Bridges (Greg) of Sylvester, and Kathy Spurlin (Tuck) of Sylvester; grandchildren, Kylie Veal, Aric Veal, Austin Veal, Justin Schmandt, Cassandra Jones, Brandi Nobles (Deven), Randy Cooper (Callie), Danielle Cooper, Aleisha Golden (Ethan), Kyle Bridges (Whitney), Justin Bentley (Liz Ann), Thomas Spurlin (Emily Futch), Jay Gray, Ashley Gray, and Cristin Seller (Jason); and he was blessed with 20 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held one hour before the service.
