James Erle Johnson

James Erle Johnson, 77, of Moultrie, passed away on Friday, September 27, 2024, at his home. 

Memorial services will be held at 3:00 PM on Thursday, October 3, 2024, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with the eulogy brought by the friends and family. 

Born May 4, 1947, in Tifton, Georgia, he was the son of the late Ezell Johnson and Lanelle Hawkins Johnson. Mr. Johnson retired from the State of Georgia as a correctional officer after many years. He was an avid hunter and loved fishing. Mr. James loved spending time with his family and, most importantly, his grandkids. He served in the United States Army and was of the Baptist faith. 

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Johnny Johnson

Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife, Judy Merritt Johnson of Moultrie; son, Todd Merritt and wife Grace of Moultrie; daughters, Julie Johnson of Panama City Beach, Florida, and Jamie Johnson and fiancée James Livingston of Panama City Beach, Florida; grandchildren, Sierra Merritt and fiancé Jeff, Mariah Merritt and fiancé Ricky, Justice Merritt, Casey Lewis, and Jack Livingston; great grandchildren, Alonso and Athena; and siters, Patsy Judd of Louisville, Kentucky, Nancy Cox of Thomasville, Jeanie Dease and husband Dickie of Belews Creek, North Carolina, Lunett Johnson of Adel, Nellie Bryant and husband Buck of Omega, and Wanda Hall of Tifton.
