James Wallace Giles

James Wallace Giles, 77, of Thomasville, passed away on Monday, May 6, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his family. 


Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 9, 2024, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Sister Peggy Dee and Shanna Taylor officiating. Interment will follow at Cobb-Suncrest Memorial Gardens. Joey Tillery, Blake Tillery, Craig Giles, Ricky Giles, Bryce Taylor, and Joe Withrow will serve as pallbearers. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.

Born on January 12, 1947, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of the late William Ralph Giles and Gladys Alene Little Giles. Mr. Giles dedicated his services to the country by serving in the United States Navy. He also served 30 years with the Civil Air Patrol Air Force Auxiliary, where he earned a private pilot's license through the cadet program. After his service, he worked in various professions, including, a mortgage broker, a financial advisor, and a deputy sheriff in Santa Rosa, Florida. He was of the Pentecostal faith. 


Mr. Giles is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Gail Snipes Giles of Thomasville; daughter, Shanna Taylor of Thomasville; grandchildren, Brenna Taylor, Rylee Taylor, and Bryce Taylor; and sisters, Lynn Meek and husband Terry of Tallahassee, and Sue Horner of Cairo.
