James O'Neil Gibson, Sr.

James O’Neil Gibson, Sr., lovingly known as “Papa”, 73, of Moultrie, died Wednesday, June 25, 2025, at his home.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, June 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Reverend Julian Griner officiating. Interment will follow at Greenfield Cemetery. O’Neil Gibson, II, Caden Maxwell, Neil Gibson, Valentine Oliva, Lynwood Gibson, and Timmy Glenn will all serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be Rhylen Carlton.

The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service.

Born on June 10, 1952, in Mississippi, he was the son of the late Travis and Dorothy Gibson. Mr. Gibson was a loving and caring daddy and papa. He loved his kids, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and would do anything for them. He retired from his business at H&G Boiler Works, Inc. and was known for his hard work and dedication. He was of the Holiness faith.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Brenda Gibson; brothers, Scotty Gibson, and sister Nettie Pope.

He is survived by his daughters, Angie Gay (Bobby), Belinda Gossett (Ken), Staci Burgess, Adriana Carlton; son, James Gibson ,II (Brandy); grandchildren, Kelsey Cooper (Taylor), Caden Maxwell (Harley), Shyanne Gibson, Laurie Gibson (Valentine), Neil Gibson, Dylan Tillery, Josh Gay (Deidre) and Ryan Martin; great grandchildren, McKinley Faircloth, Zoey Carlton, Rhylen Carlton, Hadley Cooper, Blakeley Maxwell, Adalyn Oliva, Ansleigh Tillery, Alivia Tillery, Blayden Gay, Blakely Gay, and Darby Gay; and siblings, Jack Gibson (Carolyn) an Lynnwood Gibson (Cammy); special friends, Carol and Carol Dean, and Paulette Hopper; and numerous special nieces and nephews.

The family will be gathering at 431 Newsom Road, Moultrie, Georgia.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Baker Funeral Home & Crematory.
