J.A. Norman

Joel Ansel Norman, Jr., 95, of Moultrie, passed away Monday, September 4, 2023, at his home surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, September 8, 2023, at Mt. Olive Baptist Church with Dennis Waldrep and Michael Norman officiating. Connor Norman, Riley Norman, Daniel Bastos, John Henry Jordan, Jr., Carlton Jordan, and Buck Edwards will serve as pallbearers. Entombment will follow at Baker-Hillcrest Memorial Gardens with Rev. Stanley Norman officiating.
Born on May 15, 1928, in Colquitt County, he was the son of the late Joel Ansel Norman, Sr., and Bessie Newberne Norman. He was a farmer and was a lifetime member of Mt. Olive Baptist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Rev. Preston Norman, Horace Norman, and Charles Norman; and sister, Gloria Norman Young.
Mr. Norman is survived by his loving wife of 71 years, Bama Faulkner Norman of Moultrie; sons, Joel Ansel Norman III and wife Diana of Oakdale, California, and Michael Walter Norman and wife Gayle of Moultrie; daughter, Deborah Norman Matejcek of Moultrie; and grandchildren, Connor Norman, Riley Norman, and Daniel Bastos.
Visitation will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023, from 5:00-8:00 PM in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home.
The family will be accepting flowers or donations can be made to The Gideons at P.O. Box 1322, Moultrie, Georgia 31776 in honor of J.A. Norman.
