Isaac Felton Mercer, 78, of Moultrie, passed away, Saturday, August 28, 2021, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Tuesday, August 31, 2021, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Rev. Jimmy Voyles and grandson Jebb Cato officiating. Jebb Cato, Judd Cato, Adam Stanfill, Will Roberts, AnnaDale Roberts, Levi Stanfill, Mason Moore, and Jason Mercer will serve as pallbearers. Alan Saunders, Joe Stanford, Randy Bannister, Earl Higgs, Danny Horne, Calvin Van Vlake, Greg Brown, and all his fishing buddies will serve as honorary pallbearers. Interment will follow at Baker/Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.
Born on June 4, 1943, in Moultrie, he was the son of the late Isaac Mercer and Annie Lou Vickers Mercer. He was a veteran of the United States Army. He was a mechanic for 58 years working at Ragean Brothers Garage in 1963, Wright Motor Company from 1964-1965, co-owner of Rowland and Mercer Garage from 1966-1977, co-founder/original co-owner of Moultrie Auto Parts (Bumper to Bumper) in 1968, and was the owner of Mercer’s Garage from 1977-2021. He loved the Lord and was a Member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church. He enjoyed fishing, football, baseball, nascar racing, cooking/eating, but mostly he loved and enjoyed spending time with his family. He was trustworthy, caring, and thankful to all those that knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, David Max Mercer, and Charles Henry Mercer; brother-in-law, Jim H. “Pete” Rowland; grandson, David Stanfill; and longtime special friend, Gary White.
Mr. Mercer is survived by his children, Paula Cato and husband James, Tammy Mercer, Wendy Cooper, and Crystal Moore and husband Michael; grandchildren, Jebb Cato and wife Kaydee, Judd Cato and wife Hannah, Adam Stanfill and Haley Bennett, Will Roberts and wife Autumn, AnnaDale Roberts, Levi Stanfill, and Mason Moore; great-grandchildren, Reagan Stanfill, Mason Stanfill, Nevaeh Stanfill, J.R. Stanfill, and Jette Cato and Jaxx Cato coming soon; sister, Dilly Regenia Mercer Rowland.
Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00 PM on Monday, August 30, 2021, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home.
