Hubert "Gene" Eugene Hobbs

Hubert “Gene” Eugene Hobbs, 87, of Moultrie, Georgia, passed away on Tuesday, April 4, 2023, at his home, surrounded by his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, April 7, 2023, at Oakdale Baptist Church with Rev. Matt Peek and Rev. Brian Blackburn officiating. Mr. Hobbs will be laid to rest at Oakdale Baptist Church Cemetery. Benny Byrd, Jody Parker, Don Harrell, Andy Horne, Wes Copeland, and Randy Tanner will all serve as pallbearers.
The family will receive friends one hour before the service at the church.
Born on April 7, 1935, in Pavo, Georgia, he was the son of the late Rev. John Hubert Hobbs and Evie Miller Hobbs. Mr. Hobbs was an accountant and was the music minister at Oakdale Baptist Church for several years and several other churches in South Florida. He was an avid Southern gospel music lover and enjoyed bringing choirs to local churches. He was a very dedicated accountant for Phoebe Worth Hospital where he retired at the age of 80.
Mr. Hobbs is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Patricia “Pat” Byrd Hobbs of Moultrie; sons, Tim Hobbs and wife Martha, and Michael Hobbs all of Moultrie; daughter, Joy Mackey and husband Dennis of Moultrie; grandchildren, Beth and Jody Parker, Melissa and Don Harrell, Dana and Andy Horne, Brittany and George Haymons; great-grandchildren, Josi Parker and fiancé Jalen Farmer, Maggie Rae Parker, Bailey Parker, James Horne, Sara Horne, Reed Horne, Kaye Harrell, Maddie Harrell, and Olivia Haymons; sister, Joann Hedrick and husband Rev. Denton of Tallahassee; and his fur baby, Sophie.
