Howard Lee Spires, 78, formerly of Norman Park, passed away at his daughter's residence in Aragon, Georgia, on Sunday, March 29, 2026.

A funeral service will be Friday, April 3, 2026, at the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Reverend Greg Roberts officiating. The viewing will be at 11:00 am, followed by the service at 12:00 pm. Interment will follow at Cool Springs Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery at 2559 Ellenton Norman Park Rd, Norman Park, GA 31771

Born on July 29, 1947, in Ellenton, Georgia, he was the son of the late Henry Lee Spires and Lilly Mae Williams Spires Adams. Along with his parents, Mr. Spires is preceded in death by his wife, Mickey Beason Spires; brothers, Luther Spires and Herman Spires; and sisters, Virginia Hickman and Elouise Summerville.

Mr. Spires is survived by his daughter, Rena Holliday-Hames (Tom) of Aragon; his son, Phillip Spires (Julie) of Moultrie;

Grandchildren: Stephanie and Brent Holcombe, Jessica Holliday and Jeremy Brown, Brandon and Maddy Holliday, Cathy and Ty Mitchell, Rachel Pritchett, Elisabeth Spires, and Karen Williams.

Great-Grandchildren: Emma and Ethan Holcombe, Drew and Harrison Robinson, Marshall Hulsey and Baby Holliday, Wilbert and TJ Mitchell, Sapphire Pritchett, Jacob, Caleb, and Brooklyn Williams; Great-Great-Grandchild: Zalea Woodward.

His siblings: brother, Jackie Spires (Wanda) of Norman Park; and his sisters, Louise Hunt, Sara Mae Castleberry (Jackie) of Ellenton, and Marilyn Barber (Gene) of Lenox.
