George Walter Tipton

George Walter Tipton, 80, of Pavo, passed away on Sunday, December 24, 2023, at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, Florida.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, December 31, 2023, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Pastor Mitch Kitchens and Pastor James Irons officiating. Pallbearers will be Lee Smith, Johnny McMullen, Matthew Weldon, Willie Flowers, Mark Weldon, and Daniel Weldon. Interment will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery,
Born on May 14, 1943, in St. Augustine, Florida, he was the son of the late George Washington Tipton and Verna Lee Gauss Tipton. He worked at Crosby Farms and was of the Christian faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert Tipton, and Larry Tipton; and sister, Mary Frances Anderson.
Mr. Tipton is survived by his loving wife, Margaret Lou Weldon Tipton of Pavo; sons, Shaun Tipton and wife Angela of St. Augustine, Florida, and Kevin Tipton and wife Brandy of Big Springs, Texas; daughters, Sharon Georgette Weldon and husband Cleveland, Jr. of Pavo, Ann Marie Jones of High Top, Alabama, and Tammy Renee Hamilton of Tacoma, Washington; brother, Richard Tipton and wife Ann of St. Augustine, Florida; sister, Ruby Diane Heiht and husband Ted of West Virginia; 23 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.
