Gene Everett "Steamboat" Conger, 82, of Norman Park, died Thursday, November 19, 2020 at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Graveside service will be held at 2:00PM on Sunday, November 22, 2020 at Deep Bottom Cemetery with Rev. Jimmy Voyles officiating.
Born on November 16, 1938 in Nashville, Ga., he was the son of late Ed F. Conger and Lettie Hall Conger. He was a retired farmer and a member of Norman Park United Methodist Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Vivian Marie Jacobs Conger of 53 years; brothers, Lewis Conger, Carol Conger, and Homer Conger; sisters, Ruby Culpepper, Agnes Graves, and Annie Mae Lewis.
Mr. Conger is survived by his wife, Mary Sue Weeks Conger of Norman Park; son, Tony Conger and Tammy Johnson of Norman Park; daughter, Jennifer Conger Holland and husband Tony of Hartsfield; grandchildren, Shane Conger, Scotty Conger and wife Sumner, Hanna Conger, Jenna Turner and husband Justin; step grandchild, Zachery Holland; great grandchildren, Lane Conger, Jewel and Blake Poole, Judah and Joanna Turner, and Bentley Conger; brother, Roy Conger and wife Ann of Moultrie; sister, Margaret Peterson of Valdosta; sisters in law, Norma Jean Conger and Linda Conger, both of Moultrie, Dorothy Gay and husband Dan, Janice Demott and husband Rodney, Judy Garner and husband Glen, and Kay Sellers; brother in law, Donald Graves of Conyers, Dorsey Jacobs and wife Patty and Ray Jacobs; step sons, Richard Eugene Yarbrough and wife Tracie, and Jesse James Yarbrough; and his special companion, Lily.
Visitation will be held on Saturday November 21, 2020 in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home from 4:00pm- 6:00pm.
