Fred Leon Cardwell, 74, of Tifton, passed away on Saturday, December 2, 2023, at Tift Regional Medical Center.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, December 6, 2023, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Rev. Mark Jordan officiating. Interment will follow at New Life Tabernacle Cemetery.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 PM on Tuesday, December 5, 2023, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home.
Born on July 5, 1949, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of the late Fred King Cardwell and Miriam Marie Hall Cardwell. Mr. Cardwell was a retired educator with the Colquitt County Board of Education as a math teacher at the Colquitt County High School. He was a member of the Lion’s Club and worked at the Moultrie Colquitt County Library for several years. He attended Riverside Holiness Church.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Linda Jane Cardwell Griffin, and Thurman Darold Griffin.
Mr. Cardwell is survived by his nieces and nephews, Troy Darold Griffin and wife Heather of Lewisville, Texas, Trenton Denvell Griffin of Ocilla, Trever Dane Griffin and wife Stacey of Ocilla, and Tamela DeLynn Clark of Johnstown, Colorado; great nieces and nephews, Justin Odom of Lewisville, Texas, Cameron Odom of Lewisville, Texas, Ashlee Oliver and husband Glen of Ocilla, Ryan Clark of Ocilla, Tracy Dane Griffin and wife Kimberly of Fitzgerald, and Danielle Delaine Yeager and husband Dallas of Ocilla; 9 great-great nieces and nephews; and aunts and uncles, Denvell Hall and wife Christine of Moultrie, Voncile Taylor, and Othelle Thompson.
