Ethel Griffin Spires,82, of Norman Park, passed away peacefully on Friday, March 20, 2026, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Monday, March 23, 2026, in the Chapel of Baker Funeral Home at 2:00 pm with Reverend Eugene Strickland officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Zion Church Cemetery. Chevy Bivins, Noah Welch, Joshua Welch, Kaylee Nichole Spires, Cameron Hall, Corey Dixon, and Scotty Strickland will serve as pallbearers. Nathan Harrell, Tyler Baker, Bailey Hamm, Jace Miller, and Josh Allen will serve as honorary pallbearers.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Baker Funeral Home.

Born on December 22, 1943, in Colquitt County, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Archie Griffin and Martha Exum Griffin.

Ms. Spires was a devoted wife, mother, granny, sister, and aunt who found her greatest joy in caring for her family. She loved spending time in the kitchen, preparing meals that brought everyone together, and her home was always filled with warmth and love. She especially enjoyed shopping, with favorite trips to Goodwill and Belk.

Selfless by nature, Ms. Spires consistently put others before herself and loved deeply and wholeheartedly. She cherished simple pleasures, such as picking fresh blueberries when they were in season. A proud supporter of her community, she was a devoted fan of the Colquitt County Packers.

Ms. Spires was a dedicated homemaker and a faithful member of Pine Level Baptist Church. Her life was a beautiful reflection of kindness, generosity, and unwavering love for those around her.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband of forty-eight years, Carey E. Spires, Sr.; son, Carey E. Spires, Jr.; grandson, Cody Welch; brothers, Billy Griffin, Mac Griffin, Curtis Griffin, Tommy Griffin, and Johnny Griffin; sister, Caroline Tucker; and special nephew, Chris Gay.

Ms. Spires is survived by her son, Jamie Spires and wife Melissa; grandchildren, Kaylee Nichole “NikNik” Spires, Nathan Lane Harrell, Chevy Cane Bivins, Noah Welch, Joshua Welch, and Renesmee Bloodworth; one special grandson, Jasper Colt Spires, who was affectionately called “Ganny’s little buddy”; special sister, Myrtle Covey; special nieces, Shelia Wright and husband Eugene, Sherrie Strickland and husband Eugene, and Sonya Giddings and friend Eric Hall.
