Edna Dora Lamb Burgess, 87, of Pavo, passed away on Sunday, March 1, 2026, at her residence, surrounded by her family.
A funeral service will be held at the chapel of Baker Funeral Home on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. with Reverend Klay Luke officiating. Jerome Burgess, Kim Collins, Kaleb Moore, Austin Watson, Walker Burgess, and Kaiden Gonzalez will serve as pallbearers. Interment will follow at Sardis Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, March 5, 2026, from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Baker Funeral Home.
Born on July 5, 1938, in Sylvester, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Freddie Lamb and Frances Hobbs Lamb. Mrs. Burgess worked as an industrial machinist before later serving as a hospitality clerk at the Hampton Inn, where she enjoyed welcoming and assisting guests. She loved being outdoors, whether camping under the open sky or spending peaceful days fishing. One of six children, she treasured the bond she shared with her siblings. She had a special love for flowers, especially roses, and found great joy in their beauty. Above all, she cherished her family and adored her grandchildren, who were the light of her life.
In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Jarrell L. Burgess; daughter, Kathy Faircloth; sons, Freddie Lamb, Steve Collins, and Ladon Collins; and brothers, Johnny C. Lamb, Donald Lamb, and Tommy Lamb.
Mrs. Burgess is survived by her sons, Jerome Burgess and wife Sallie of Pavo and Kim Collins and wife Mary of Orlando, FL; son-in-law, Lester Faircloth of Quitman; grandchildren, Jessie Burgess Moore and husband Kaleb, Hunter Burgess Watson and husband Austin, Walker Burgess, Shelby Montgomery and husband Daniel, Bridgett Collins, Dalton Collins, Steven Collins, Jason Collins, Shannon Collins, Kascey Collins, Amber Collins, Ben Collins, Brenda Collins, Cheyanne Collins, Christopher Collins, and Kaiden Gonzalez; great-grandchildren, Dallas Moore, Jameson Moore, Charlotte Ann Moore, Miles Burgess, Shiver Moore, and Roseleigh Watson; sisters, Carol Tchebanoff and husband Mike, and Patsy Campbell.
