Affectionately known as Grannyma, Dorothy was born in Moultrie, Georgia, on November 12, 1935, and was the daughter of the late Mervin F. Hall and Zemmie West Hall.
Grannyma found her greatest joy outdoors, working in her yard. She had a true green thumb and could make anything flourish. Whether planting flowers, tending her vegetables, or even pulling weeds, she loved every moment spent with her hands in the soil.
More than her love of gardening, Grannyma will be remembered for the love she gave her family. She was a source of warmth, laughter, and wisdom, and her presence brought comfort to all who knew her.
She was a member of Hopewell Baptist Church, where she served the Lord and built lifelong friendships. Her faith was the foundation of her life, guiding her in the love and kindness she extended to others.
Her legacy will live on in the flowers she planted, her grandchildren’s laughter, and the countless lives she touched with her generosity and love. Her family is deeply thankful for the love and care she received from her Hospice family during her final months.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loved and cherished husband, Gerald Anthony Rogers; son, Gary Anthony Rogers; and brother John T. Hall and wife Barbara Tillman Hall.
She is survived by her loving daughter, Cathy Rogers Hood and husband Mickey of Moultrie; grandchildren, Carrie Hood Parker and husband Chris, Crystal Hood Dell and husband Chip, and A.J. Hood, all of Moultrie; great grandchildren, Natalie Bryan, Cayden Parker, Carissa Bryan, Carson Parker, Hadlyn Hood, and Trevor Hood; sister, Gail Leavens and husband Cyrus of Lakeland, FL; daughter-in-law, Carol Davis Rogers of Moultrie; step grandchildren, Meritt Stolze and husband Gary of Sylvester, Millicent Gamble and husband Stephen; bonus granddaughter, Anita Moore; step-great grandchildren, Maitlyn Stolze, Randy Stolze, Stephen Gamble, Jr., Marina Kastelic, and Seth Kastelic; and several great-great step-grandchildren, along with extended family.
