Born on June 4, 1951, in Moultrie, Georgia, he was the son of the late Charlie Lee Bennett and Dora Belle Kilgore Bennett. Donald was a beloved member of the Autreyville Baptist Church, where he generously gave his time as a Sunday school teacher and served as a dedicated deacon. Throughout his life, he exemplified selflessness and compassion, always eager to lend a helping hand to those in need. A devoted family man, Mr. Bennett cherished his loved ones above all else. Donald’s passion for public service led him to a fulfilling career with the GA Forestry Commission, from which he retired after many years of hard work and commitment. Additionally, he selflessly served as a valued member of the Colquitt Co Autreyville Volunteer Fire Department. His passion for serving extended beyond his community duties; he spent countless hours working on trucks for the fire departments in Colquitt County and Thomas County, even applying for grants on their behalf. A true farmer at heart, Donald found solace in watching the growth of his garden and took immense joy in sharing its bounty with various members of the community. His nurturing spirit and commitment to helping others will forever be remembered by all who were fortunate enough to know him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Hoyt Bennett and James Bennett.
Mr. Bennett is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Vicki Stanfill Bennett of Moultrie; daughters, Leslee Adams and husband Jack and Jaimee Clayton and husband Robbie, all of Moultrie; granddaughter, Madison Adams; sister, Margie Reese and husband Wallace of Moultrie; and several nieces and nephews.
