Mr. Delton Lee Powell, Jr. was born on June 11, 1936, in Worth County, Georgia, to the late Delton
Lee Powell Sr. and Mary Etta Watson Powell. Mr. Powell was a Godly man who loved the Lord and
his family. After working at Firestone until the plant closed, gardening became his favorite hobby. He
loved to plant a huge garden every year just to be able to share his harvest with family and friends.
Faith was very important to Mr. Powell. He was a devoted member of his church, New Hope Baptist
Church. He never missed a service until his health began to fail him.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, October 14, 2022, at New Hope Baptist Church with Rev. Teddy Burch and Justin Powell officiating. Interment will follow at New Hope Baptist Church Cemetery. Brandon Tillman, Robby Powell, Justin Powell, Stacey Tillman, Casey Sikes, Austin Sikes, Donnie Moon, Caleb English, and Wilson Powell will serve as pallbearers. James Tompkins, Curtis Powell, Robert Williams, Jackie Johnson, and Earl Manders will serve as honorary pallbearers. Visitation will be held Thursday, October 13, 2022, from 6:00-8:00 PM in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Freeman Powell; infant son,
Kerry Rene Powell; daughter, Benita Fran Powell Tillman, and sister, Mamie Powell Tompkins.
Mr. Powell is survived by his children, Ricky Powell and wife Rose, Lynn Sikes and husband Ricky,
and Dell Powell and wife Allison; son-in-law, Eric Tillman; grandchildren, Brandon Tillman and wife
Jackie, Robby Powell, Justin Powell and wife Ashlie, Stacey Tillman and wife Cara, Casey Sikes and
wife Alannah, Misty Moon and husband Donnie, Brittany English and husband Caleb, Austin Sikes,
Ella Powell, Wilson Powell; great grandchildren, Brently and Wyatt Tillman, Haley and Brandon
Tillman Jr, Levi, Julie Rose and Mackenzie Moon, Bodie and Baylor Powell and Anslie Sikes;
Brother, Dennis J. Powell and wife Mary Faye of Berlin, Ga.; two sisters, Myrtle L. Thornton of Moultrie,
Ga. and Betty Mallard and husband Charles of Norman Park, Ga.; several nieces, nephews, cousins and
friends.
