Corinne Gourd Bunce

Corinne ("Corky") G. Bunce, age 97, of Moultrie, Georgia, formerly of Storrs, CT, and Old Lyme, CT, passed away peacefully on November 21, 2025. She was the beloved wife of the late George W. Bunce and a devoted mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.

Corky was born on October 2, 1928, in Hamden, CT, to the late Edward and Mary Gourd. She graduated from Hamden High School in 1945 and attended Allegheny University for two years, and then went on to get her bachelor's degree from the University of Connecticut in 1949. She worked at the University of Connecticut before staying home to raise her three daughters. She was an avid reader, bridge player, and loved working on crossword puzzles and jigsaw puzzles. Corky happily volunteered a great deal of her time to numerous organizations. She also enjoyed traveling all around the world with her late husband, George.

Corinne is survived by her three daughters Sara Bunce and her husband Ted Moynihan of Chester, CT, Stacey Marshall and her husband DeVerne Marshall Jr. of Moultrie, Georgia and Margaret Erickson and her husband Glenn Erickson of Old Lyme, CT; three granddaughters, Kimberly Van Tongeren and her husband, Alex Van Tongeren of Old Lyme, CT, Jennifer Erickson of Essex, CT and Elizabeth Knox and her husband, Nico Valencia of Ridgewood, New York; great-grandsons Henry Van Tongeren and Jack Van Tongeren and a great-granddaughter, Lucy Van Tongeren of Old Lyme, CT. Corinne was preceded in death by her husband George W. Bunce, grandson Brian Knox, and her brothers Donald Gourd and Raymond Gourd.

Her children would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her caregiver, Sandra, who has provided exceptional care over the last several years.

A celebration of life will be held at a future date to be determined by the family.
