Dorothy Cheryl Newton Murphy

Dorothy Cheryl Newton Murphy, 78, of Moultrie, Georgia, passed away on Friday, September 25, 2026, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, September 28, 2026, at 3:00 pm in the chapel at Baker Funeral Home with Reverend Caleb Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Murphy Cemetery. Justin Murphy, Madison Penney, Dalton Murphy, Shea Murphy, Nicole Murphy Martinez, Jade Murphy Merritt, Hunter Penney, Hunter Wool, Hunter Murphy, and Bradley Roberts will serve as pallbearers.

Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service.

Born November 4, 1947, in Moultrie, Georgia to the late Jay Newton and Doris Rhodes Newton. She worked at Riverside Manufacturing for over 30 years, where she dedicated herself to quality control. She took great pride in her work and the many years she spent with her coworkers. Outside of work, she enjoyed singing karaoke, dancing, playing music bingo, going to the casinos and spending time fishing. She also cherished time spent with her family and friends, making memories and enjoying life together. She will be remembered for her joyful spirit, love of music, and the special friendships she made throughout her life.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Clark Newton and Wayne Murphy and her daughter-in-law, Dawn Murphy.

Mrs. Murphy is survived by her sons, Vance Murphy and Brian Keith Murphy, both of Moultrie; daughter, Paula Murphy Norris and husband, Doug of Panama City Beach, FL; special grandson, Justin Murphy; grandchildren, Madison Penney, Dalton Murphy and wife, Daley, Nicole Murphy Martinez and husband, Leo, Jade Murphy Merritt, Hunter Penney, Shea Murphy and Drew Brinkley, and Hunter Murphy; great grandchildren, Nathan Vinson, Jemma Murphy, Kale Dennis, Emma Merritt, Jax Murphy, Seven Weeks, Olivia Merritt, Kaydee Nell Martinez, Maisyn Murphy, McLeod Murphy, Molly Murphy, and Maggie Murphy; brother, Carl Murphy and wife, Marsha; sisters, Linda Whitney and husband, Bill and Kay Williams; sisters-in-law, Karen Newton and Janice Lee and husband, Mike; special nieces and nephews, Jayme Wool and husband, Bubba, Joni Roberts, Cindy Keough and husband, Bret, Hunter Wool and wife, Autumn, Bradley Roberts, Bethany Castleberry and husband, Tanner and Brianna Roberts; numerous special family and friends.
