Charles Auburn Lindsey, 80, of Norman Park, passed away peacefully at Pruitt Health Moultrie on Saturday, January 13, 2024.
Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 3:00 pm, in the chapel of Baker Funeral Home with Rev. Tony Roberts officiating. Interment will follow at Funston City Cemetery with committal service officiated by Rev. Warren Gilpin. Andrew Logan, Justin Winders, Ryne Sherrod, Tony Tucker, and Scott Lindsey will all serve as pallbearers.
Visitation will be held from 2:00 pm - 3:00pm the day of the service at Baker Funeral Home.
Born on October 19, 1943, in Tift County, Georgia, he was the son of the late Elijah Auburn Lindsey and Mamie Lou Hall Lindsey. Mr. Lindsey was a loving and caring husband, father, and grandfather. He was especially devoted to his grandchildren and wanted to spend as much time as possible with them. He was a member of Mt. Zion Baptist Church and a former member of Bethel Baptist Church where he was ordained as a deacon. He was a former Sunday School Superintendent, youth director, and also drove the church van taking children back and forth to church. He taught Sunday school for the youth and the senior adults. He was a bridge construction foreman for Southern Concrete Construction Company and worked for them 48 years.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, William T. Lindsey and two sisters, Emma Jean Hinson and Reba Pritchard; nephews, Wayne Hinson and Lee Lindsey; and niece, Cindy Lovett.
He is survived by his loving wife, Laura Janice Bragg Lindsey; daughters, Laura Tucker and husband Bubba and Lori Mincey and husband Chris; six grandchildren, Lindsay Davis, Justin Winders, Andrew Logan and Katie, Allison Sherrod and Ryne, Tony Tucker and Abby Mincey; and great grandchildren, Noah Auburn Davis, and Aleah Tucker; and brother, Troy Lindsey of New Elm.
