Charles "Charlie" Mattes Hillebrand

Charles “Charlie” Mattes Hillebrand, 50, of Moultrie, passed away on Sunday, November 30, 2025, at his home.

Graveside services will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, December 4, 2025, at Westview Cemetery with Reverend Nick Dawson officiating and Micha Willis speaking.

Born on January 16, 1975, at Crawford W. Long Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia, Charlie was the son of Frances Ann “Cooka” Pippin Hillebrand of Moultrie, Georgia, and the late Pieter Rolf Albert Martin Hillebrand. He worked as a wood importer with Global Forest LLC and was a member of Trinity Baptist Church.

Charlie graduated from Christ School in Arden, North Carolina, where he was honored as the salutatorian of his class. He continued his education at Rhodes College in Memphis, Tennessee, later transferring to Mercer University in Macon, Georgia, and ultimately earning his degree from the University of Idaho in Moscow, Idaho.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his brother, Kristof Leon Rolf Hillebrand, his maternal grandparents, William Leon Pippin, Sr. and Margaret “Sug” Pidcock Pippin; paternal grandparents, Rolf Hillebrand and Irene Ripkin Hillebrand; uncles, Charles Taylor Pippin, William Leon Pippin, Jr., Hans Verna Conrad; aunts, Margaret Pippin Crawford, Marion Hillebrand Rinke, and Karin Hillebrand Conrad.

Mr. Hillebrand is survived by his mother, niece, Amelia Pippin Hillebrand; half-brother, Andreje Nicholas Hillebrand; aunt, Charlotte Pippin; uncle, Allan Neil Crawford, Jr., Dr. Heiner Rinke; cousins, Anne Kathrin Conrad, Katja Michaelis, Taylor Crawford Schweiger, William Leon Pippin, III, Allan Neil Crawford, III, Caroline Rinke Ratsch, Patrick Rinke.
