Born on October 31, 1938, in Adel, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Irvin W. Crumpton and Myrtice Higgs Crumpton Suber.

Mrs. Carolyn Waites was a devoted wife, a loving mother, and the heart of her family. She treasured every moment spent with her children, grandchildren, and those she loved, always putting their needs before her own. Her home was filled with warmth, laughter, and the comforting aroma of something delicious cooking in the kitchen.

She had a true gift for cooking and was well known for her famous 14-layer chocolate cake, a family favorite that was requested for countless birthdays, holidays, and special occasions. Sharing a meal was one of the many ways she showed her love.

In her younger years, Carolyn was an outstanding roller skater and enjoyed spending evenings square dancing with friends. She also loved fishing, playing cards, and making memories with those closest to her. Whether gathered around the dinner table, on the lake, or enjoying a friendly card game, Carolyn’s greatest happiness came from being surrounded by her family. Her love, kindness, and the traditions she created will be cherished and remembered for generations to come. Mrs. Carolyn was a member of Buck Creek Baptist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sons, Dennis Lamar Waites and Jammie Lyn Waites; brother, Bobby Crumpton; and great-grandchildren, Niles Gengenbach and Mason Bennett.

Mrs. Waites is survived by her son, Greg Waites and wife Ann of Norman Park; daughter in law, Carol Rountree Waites of Norman Park; grandchildren, Shelby Johnson and husband Eric, Lisa Bennett and husband Barry, Jeannie Waites Salter and husband Ray, Katie Copeland and husband Wes, Burt Waites, Christopher House, and Josh and Savanna House; great grandchildren, Zoe Dickson, Lane Bennett, Brayden Bock, John Dennis Copeland, Briggs House, Blane House, Johnathan House, and Morrigan House; and sister in law, Sharon Crumpton.

The family will be gathering at the home of Greg and Ann Waites.
