Born on August 29, 1945, in Moultrie, she was the daughter of the late James William “Jake” McMurphy and Mary Louise Cox McMurphy. Carolyn devoted her career to helping others as a physical therapist, where her care and kindness touched the lives of countless patients and their families. Her work was more than a profession—it was a reflection of her generous spirit and deep commitment to improving the lives of others.

Outside of her career, Carolyn found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She was an avid gardener who took great pride in her flowers, finding peace and happiness in their beauty. She also enjoyed shopping and spending time finding the perfect gifts for those she loved.

Above all, Carolyn cherished her family. Her greatest joy came from time spent with those closest to her, and she will be remembered for the love and warmth she so freely gave. Her gentle heart, thoughtful nature, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew her.

Carolyn was a faithful member of New Jerusalem Free Will Baptist Church in Moultrie, where her faith guided her life and gave her strength and purpose.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Margaret Ann Reynolds and Carol Denise Calloway; and siblings, Wilma Jean Williams, Effie Irene Gibson, Shelia Dianne Brooks, Gary Lamar McMurphy, Larry Eugene McMurphy, and Michael Allen McMurphy.

Mrs. Gibson is survived by her husband, Jack Wayne Gibson of Moultrie; sons, John Anthony Reynolds and Bobby Howell Reynolds and wife Rhonda, all of Moultrie; 9 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; siblings, Betty Lou and BB Pope, James Ronnie and Kathy McMurphy, Bobbie Jean McCook, Virginia Ann and Joey Meads, Harold Junior and Debbie McMurphy and Leonard Craig and Dana McMurphy; and several nieces and nephews

The family will be gathering at Elli Mae’s Kountry Café, 2557 GA Hwy 133, Moultrie, Georgia 31788.
