Carol Jean Baird Crowell, 79, of Doerun, died Saturday, February 21, 2026, at her home surrounded by her family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, February 24, 2026, at First Baptist Church Doerun with Reverend Dr. David Benton officiating. Interment will follow at Doerun City Cemetery. Tanner Cook, Tyler Cook, Hayden Hembree, Landon Hembree, Skipper Saunders, Timothy Gregory, and Jarrod Coleman will all serve as pallbearers. Warren Walker will be the honorary pallbearer.
The family will receive friends and family one hour prior to the service at the church.
Born on January 26, 1947, in Moultrie, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Ozie William Baird and Grace Bryan Baird. Carol was a devoted member of First Baptist Church Doerun, where her faith was evident in the way she lived her life each day. She carried a gentle spirit and a servant’s heart, always placing others before herself.
She found great joy in working in her yard, especially tending to her flower beds. Daylilies were her favorite, and she took pride in watching them bloom year after year. Many who passed by her home would see her outside, hands in the soil, carefully nurturing the beauty she so dearly loved. Her garden was a reflection of her life — vibrant, colorful, and full of care.
Before her retirement, Carol worked faithfully as a courier for Quest Diagnostics. She approached her job with dedication and reliability, building friendships along the way and serving others with her dependable nature.
Above all, Carol treasured her family. She loved spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, who were the light of her life. Her home was a place of warmth, laughter, and unconditional love.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Earnest Baird and sisters, Nina Faye Baird Sellers and Martha Baird.
Mrs. Carol is survived by her loving and devoted husband, Michael Randolph Crowell of Doerun; daughters, Michele Crowell Smith and Wendy Crowell Hembree and husband Darren, both of Doerun; grandchildren, Tanner Cook, Tyler Cook and wife Rita Jane, Hayden Hembree, Landon Hembree, and Stephanie Baird; great-grandchildren, Bentley Cook, Presley Cook, Waylon Cook, and Carter Griffin; brothers, Billy Baird and wife Sharon, Lester Baird and wife Pam; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to recognize and express their heartfelt gratitude to Colquitt Regional Hospice for their exceptional care and compassion. A special thank you is extended to her dedicated caregivers, Jade Porter and Felicia Moore, whose kindness, patience, and loving attention brought comfort and peace during her final days.
Arrangements entrusted to Baker Funeral Home & Crematory.
