Born on January 27, 1953, in Beckley, West Virginia, he was the son of the late Calvin Thornton McKenzie and Charlotte Alma Brooks McKenzie. Calvin lived a life full of warmth and kindness that touched all who knew him. He had proudly served in the Navy and later found his passion in the culinary arts, working as a cook. He was of the Protestant faith.
He is survived by his only sister, Caryn Jean Merana of Delaware.
