Born on March 30, 1935, in Scooterville, Georgia, Billy was the son of the late Guy Devane Willis and Mary Lula Rentz Willis. Billy had a heart full of love for both the Lord and his family. He lived with a generous spirit and was always there to lend a hand or share uplifting words. Whether it was taking care of his family, serving in church, or supporting friends and employees, he was truly a beacon in his community.
For over 55 years, Billy faithfully served as a deacon at Bethel Baptist Church, where he attended his entire life. His love for the Lord was evident in everything he did, and he found joy in supporting his church, the community, and international missions. He’ll be remembered for his humble and kind nature, always quick to share a smile and a warm word of encouragement.
Billy proudly served his country as a U.S. Army veteran. Afterward, he worked at Southern Concrete Co., where he was known for building more than just bridges—he built an incredible legacy. He started working as a laborer on a construction crew and, along with his brothers, eventually became co-owner of the company. In his free time, you could often find him on a tractor tending to his garden, which brought him great peace, happiness, and time to bond with his children and grandchildren. He loved to travel, marveling at the beauties of God’s creations and enjoying the local cuisines—especially the fresh lobster in Maine!
Billy leaves behind a legacy of faith, family, and love, and he will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister, Betty Ryan, and brother, A.D. Willis.
Mr. Willis is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, Edna Lee Lindsey Willis of Omega; son, Randy Devone Willis and wife Gwen; daughter, Debbie Ann Willis Turner and husband Kim; grandchildren, B.J Willis and wife Carey, Justin Turner and wife Jenna, Matthew Turner and wife Ali, Mark Turner and wife Erin, and Jonathan Turner; great-grandchildren, Austin Willis, Gracey Willis, Judah Turner, Rhett Turner, Elizabeth Turner, Joanna Turner, Brentley Turner, and Marianne Turner; brother, Bobby Willis and wife Linda; sister in law, Carolyn Willis; and many more friends who he cherished as his own family.
