Betty Jane Polson

Betty Jane Rutter Polson, 71, of Moultrie, formerly of Jesup, Georgia, passed away on Saturday, August 15, 2026, at Colquitt Regional Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 am on Saturday, August 22, 2026, at the Meigs Mennonite Church in Meigs, Georgia, with Reverend Greg Yoder officiating.

Born on December 27, 1954, in Lancaster, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Dora Meita and James Rutter.

Betty was a homemaker who also volunteered for 17 years as a Salvation Army bell ringer at Walmart in Jesup. She enjoyed knitting and growing flowers. She had a sweet spot for Coke Zero and Reese’s Cups, and she dearly loved her dog, Oscar. Above all, Betty found joy in the simple things and the people and pets who made her life special.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Phillip Lee Polson.

Betty is survived by her son, Nelson Groff, and his wife, Julia, of Moultrie, and five grandsons.
