Betty June Baker Lawhorn, 82, of Norman Park, passed away on Saturday, September 3, 2022, at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, September 7, 2022, in the Chapel of Baker Funeral Home, with Reverend Dr. Jimmy Voyles officiating. Howard Gray, Jeremy Gray, Dykes Hurst, Jake Hurst, Chris Conger, and Cameron Conger will serve as pallbearers. Teresa Wise, Katherine Simpson, Linda Farley, and Karen Conger, Mrs. Lawhorn’s caregivers, will all serve as honorary pallbearers. She will be laid to rest at Paulk’s Chapel Cemetery in Sumner, Georgia.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 6, 2022, from 6 pm - 8 pm in the Chapel of Baker Funeral Home.
Born on July 1, 1940, in Tifton, Georgia, she was the daughter of the late Jesse Daniel Baker and Edith Harrell Baker. She worked for many years for the Colquitt Co. Board of Education as a paraprofessional. She later worked in the attendance office. She married the love of her life, MR. George T. Lawhorn, Sr. on September 6, 1969. She loved working in her garden and doing yard work and loved her sons, her grandbabies, and her great-grandbabies. She attended Union Grove Church of God in Eldorado.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Blondean Porter.
Mrs. Lawhorn is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, George T. Lawhorn, Sr. of Norman Park; sons, Billy Lawhorn and wife Dora of Sylvester, Roger Lawhorn and wife Judy of Ohio, and George Lawhorn, Jr. and Kathi of Norman Park; grandchildren, Randy Lawhorn, Keith Lawhorn, and Jesse Lawhorn; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters, Montoya Cooper of Atlanta and Linnie Cone of Tifton; and several nieces and nephews.
