Betty Adair

Betty Louise Harbula Adair, 76, of Ty Ty, Georgia, passed away on Sunday, August 30, 2026, at her home.

A memorial service will be held at 3:00 on Thursday, September 10, 2026, at Ty Ty First Baptist Church with Reverend Joel Griffin officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service.

Born on June 5, 1950, in Salem, New Jersey, she was the daughter of the late Michael Harbula and Delvina Guest Harbula. She worked at Adams Motor Company and was a longtime member of Ty Ty First Baptist Church.

She enjoyed gardening, growing fruits and vegetables, and tending to her beautiful flowers. She also loved her animals and enjoyed sewing. She was a sweet and caring lady who cherished her family and loved them above all else. Her kindness, gentle spirit, and love for those around her will be deeply missed.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, George Adair; daughter, Betty Ann Johnson; and her brothers, David Harbula and Charles Harbula.

She is survived by her husband, Ronald O. Dowdney; grandchildren, Dillyan Johnson and his wife Leslie, Dakota Johnson, and Brooklyn Johnson; great-grandchildren, Devan Johnson and Aiden Johnson; siblings, Michael Harbula and his wife Nettie, Joseph Harbula and his wife CiCi, Delvina E. Hall, Audrey Harbula, and Sharon F. Driskell; sister-in-law, Ann Moxley; special sister, Linda Henderson; stepchildren, Andy Dowdney, Misty Parkerson, and Brittany Sellers; and several nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends at the home of Ronald Dowdney in Tifton.
